How fast are they?

The updated Original and the II should be able of attaining 45mph with no problem. Higher speeds might be achievable if you have the nerve. The prototype has been clocked at 34mph with a GPS mounted to the mast with 2 grown men aboard in a 10-12 mph wind. We use the GPS as a speedometer and it also stores the maximum speed recorded for the day. The prototype was difficult to maintain stability above 30mph. The stability was corrected by moving the seat forward, which balanced the CG (center of gravity) and putting more weight on the front runner at higher speeds. Want to go for the ride of your life? Spin an iceboat out at 30mph. You can`t see a thing with all that shaved ice being thrown into the air as you are spinning around and the noise is one you`ll never forget! Updated numbers will be posted here soon as we get some good ice and can get out there. Last year at the end of the season when we took out the updated original the batteries died on the GPS. I refuse to guess at a speed, but it did seem a heck of a lot faster.
